Local Wisdom: Silver Linings Amid

Amid these uncertain times, there is a very wobbly sense of normalcy, to say the least. Today, I want to share with you all an inspiring story from one of my dearest mentors, Betty *.

Recently, she and her husband were celebrating their 46th anniversary. Per social-distancing guidelines, they planned their drive and picnic accordingly, listening to their wedding cd as they drove to the park, and enjoying an outdoor picnic. Despite things not going perfectly (She pointed out that there weren’t many poppies and the few they saw were not in full bloom, but “we had a good laugh over that. We called our celebration making lemonade out of lemons”). As this season presents its fair share of lemons and un-bloomed poppies, I encourage all of you to do your best to make the most of it. Afterall, some of the most beautiful mosaics are made from the most fragmented pieces.
